“Tender vocalist, tender music.”
Bridie
@ Surfside Hideaway

It’s a stormy Sunday… so why go outside when you can go to the beach: sun, sand and live music – who cares it is just a virtual one? Certainly not me, as I went to Surfside Hideaway to see Bridie.

@ Surfside Hideaway

Bridie is one of those singers where you immediately notice the voice – it was sensitive and its occasional flaws at the top notes of her emotionally charged set only served to add an endearing vulnerability to it. She started her set with Jaymes Young’s “I’ll be good” followed by a lovely version of The Cranberries’ “Zombie” and created a beautiful reverent atmosphere. I especially loved Bridie’s version of the Guns N’ Roses’ classic “Sweet child o’ mine” which apparently is also one of her favourites. Speaking of instruments, she played acoustic guitar until about half way through the show, then, demonstrating her versatility, effortlessly switched to piano for the rest of the set, making the show even more varied and enjoyable.

a vocalist who plays electric as well as acoustic guitar, ukulele and harmonica

Bridie comes from north coast of New South Wales, Australia and has been playing her music for 9 years now. She is a vocalist who plays electric as well as acoustic guitar, ukulele and harmonica – performing a variety of music styles including alternative, indie, pop, rock, folk, alternative rock and of course her favourite alternative/indie. Not only in Second Life, she also performs at many live venues around her town and beyond, she also writes and records her own songs which she performs in front of her live audiences.

The Surfside Hideaway, one of oldest live music venues in Second Life, was established back in the year 2009 and is – as the name suggests – a beach-themed sim, offering live music throughout the week at Europe-friendly times (usually around 11am – 2pm slt, on sundays even a morning program from 1am – 5am slt). If you plan a visit there, be aware of the shark.

Thank you Bridie for an endearing hour!
