Spontanous ideas are always the best – okay almost always. But for today it definitely was right. Not fully logged in, got my first group message and I decided to go and see Blueboi Blues at NoWhere Blues Club. Just because. Best way to start into a friday.
This voice! That will be for sure in your mind if you hear him for the first time – very special, but I loved it. Yes, he is original and 99 years of alcohol and cigarettes could not make anyone’s voice sound as true-to-life as Blueboi’s does. Playing the electric guitar and harmonica combined with a not so professional sound gave his show an absolut authentic blues atmosphere. You are a blues fan? Than he is definitely a must.
Blueboi got his first guitar at the age of 9 and while 13 he went to see John Lee Hooker. But it was the opener, someone named Lightning Hopkins, who infected him with the blues for the rest of his life. Playing solo and in bands for many years since then, this man has lived the blues and he now brings it to Second Life. Having no calendar, you have to join his group if you don’t want to miss his shows.
The NoWhere Blues Club is build with corrugated metal, as rusty and original as you can expect it from an old Dixie blues club. The stage is some kind of cage, not sure if it is to protect the artists from the audience or the other way round. I love the atmosphere.
