The week is gone, it’s friday. Today I decided to give my weekend a slow start with Seba Sideways at Cool Cat’s Art Music Circus. A first time for me, both for the artist and for the venue.
When I heard Seba is playing the saxophone, I was excited to hear another one of Second Life’s instrumental artists and after nearly one year discovering new artists I’m still suprised how diverse the live music community is. He played a reggae heavy set with some r&b, easy to listen – just right for a friday night. If you ask me, my absolute highlight was Prince’s “#6” from the unoffical album “Loring Park Sessions ’77”, what a pick. Soft, elegant and super catchy. All in all: perfect sound with an exceptional setlist. A blast!
…paying tribute to great musicians.
From the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Seba has been playing the saxophone for more than 20 years. Not only performing in Second Life, he also works in RL as a session player in jazz, blues, funk, latin, rock, smooth jazz and reggae bands. His repertoire includes diverse music styles from smooth jazz, jazz ballads, jazz standards, blues, funk to reggae roots and also some tango songs acapella. At his gigs Seba is paying tribute to great musicians, mixing styles and times – on top of that he also plays self-composed tracks.
Cool Cat’s Art Music Circus is, no surprise, a circus themed location. As one of the oldest venues in sl it was founded in 2007 and two years later it won the Metaverse Stream Scene Award 2009. The circus is known for presenting not so famous artists who play their own songs, a perfect place to discover new music – even off the mainstream. The regular program offers live music every tuesday and thursday, biweekly on wednesday and friday. Times are europe friendly and vary from 12am – 3pm slt. And as it is your first visit, just look out for the big red hydrant in front of the tent, it will bring you to the concerts.
